Preview Release -- Check out your LINKS

Hi All,

We are ready to get some feedback from you all -- and are gearing up to soft launch you guys on to our new platform. Take a look at your links below. Let's use this Blog Post as a forum -- please comment here with any suggestions and let us know if you find bugs. With bugs, please include the Web Address (URL) for where you encountered the bug.

Known Issues:
  1. Cover Art -- tonight you may or may not see cover art, this is due to an issue with some of our servers, not all of them have the latest configs, this will be cured by tomorrow morning.
  2. Top Hits -- the "Top Hits" list will not start generating until we have officially "soft launched" -- in any case, the page will be very similar to the "On Air Playlist" page.
  3. Missing/Strange Data issues -- if you find strange albums or missing tracks, please report the URLs as you find them.
  4. Cosmetic issues -- we're working through tweaking various things to improve usability -- feel free to make your own suggestions as well. Note: we have a number of UI fixes that we will be rolling out shortly.
  5. Speed -- you may notice that the "Related Artists" and other things are "slow" to load at times -- They will speed up in the next two days.
  6. Internet Explorer -- we know there are many issues with the IE6 Browser and some with IE7 -- we will be working to track those down during the soft launch period. Internet Explorer requires extra special care to be happy because it's a bit behind the times when it comes to browser technology.

And here are your HOURS:

  1. Jeff and Vineet: These look great. One problem that I've noticed is that the "hours" songs don't scroll all the way back to the top of the hour. It shows the last 8 (or so) tracks - but if you play more than that in one hour you lose the first few.

  2. Further comment - I'm looking at this on IE7.

  3. john good catch looks like the scroll is stuck at 8 per hour. thanks, you go in the wall yet?

  4. One thing I noticed is that if you play a sound sample in the hours and then launch the wall, the sample keeps playing to the end. Should we stop the sound sample as soon as wall loads or let it play out?

  6. Regarding the 8 songs -- there's a subtle scrollbar on the right (sounds like it's too subtle) -- you can use that to scroll through the entire list...

we're going to make some tweaks to make it easier to figure out how to scroll.

  9. Love this!!! Need the cover art to load once so when you scroll through they do not have to load a second time. I know, I know, the issue will be client memory - right?

  10. On the Wall I like how it looks. But when I click on a different hour, is there a way for it to collapse the current hour (or other hours you clicked on) and bring the hour you clicked on to the top, like it works on the hours tool.

Also if you click on the hour on the left side I think it should close that hour. (It's keeping it open and when I click on another hour the list just gets longer and longer).

Just my thoughts on the Wall. I think the hours looks great. I do agree with the scroll bar on the right. I think it can be brighter so the user knows what to do with it. Remember not all our users under scroll bars.

I'm looking at this on a MBP w/ Safari and tested this in firefox also.

  11. I have a comment on the Download links and the Icons. As the superuser we are we understand them. From a user stand point I can see the user not understanding what to do.

Example on the hours someone clicks on the Download link and it take them to the lyric page. I see the icons but I get that, the average user would not get it. I think a Key for the icons or text next to them would help spell that out for them.

Just my thoughts on the Download. I know we'll get emails and calls on that.

  14. Looks great. We just implemented the new hours...I think Jeff Buti mentioned this to you as well, but when you mouse over the entries from bottom to top, they still expand when the pointer hits the song title, which is different from the way they expand when you mouseover from top to bottom (entry expands when pointer hits the dividing line).

Also, the station logo that is displayed on the player is our old logo. Any way we could get the logo updated? I can provide the new image for you as well. Please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Tina
